The Somesay Island Railway's first steam day co-incided with one of the hottest days of the summer,
and most visitors were happy to sit and convert drink to steam, rather than to raise steam.
Nonetheless, a number of visitors were able to prove that the line can now accept "Roundhouse" size locomotives,
and that it can prove an interesting challenge to steam or battery operators.
