Large Scale Model Rail Show
My grateful thanks to everyone who helped with Ridgmont, the layout looked great with all the extras added. I think everybody had plenty of opportunity to play trains and spend some time checking out the rest of the show.
Particular thanks to those members who made time to help with the loading and unloading on the Friday and Monday, apologies to John and Martin who had wasted journeys on the Monday, Ridgmont was packed away in record time. There was much debate about whether we should take the fiddle but as it turned out it was a big help having the fiddle yard for extra storage.
I have had a letter from the organizers of the show thanking everyone for their efforts; apparently they had a lot of positive feedback from visitors about Ridgmont. Well done everyone.
Future Shows
The association has sent an email to the Area Groups asking if anyone would be interested in taking their Exhibition layouts to a couple of shows later this year.
The first is the G Scale Society’s annual Grand Autumn Indoor Show, to be held at Wickham near Portsmouth on the 25 October.
The second is a just a bit different, Rail-Expo 2008, it’s a 3 day show to be held on the 28,29 & 30 November, this is the different bit, it takes place in the Grand Dôme in Villebon city, just south west of Paris. See the show's website for some more details: http://railexpo.fr/
At the moment the association is looking to see if there is interest from any group to take their layout to either of those shows. Let me know what you think, if enough of our members are interested I will find out more details.
Other Business
Pete Newman has told us that he would like to step down as our Webmaster and handover the running of the BAG's site to a fresh pair of hands. Pete has been doing a great job running the site for a number of years but he feels its time for a fresh approach. If you are interested please talk to Pete for more info.
The early morning snow cleared away to give us a cold but very enjoyable afternoon at The Beeches Light Railway as guests of Adrian Shooter. A generator wagon was added to the train to power the electric coach heating. The professional BBQ was excellent, but most of us took our food back to the warmth of the station building. Our Kevin was firing the Darj B class loco, and even had a drive.
Thanks to Nick Burton for making us welcome at the CVR Open Day last Saturday, sunny weather and plenty of refreshments. The line was busy all afternoon. See pictures of all our latest activities on our web site Gallery.
