Steam In Beds 2008

We have finalised the details for our Exhibition, and now need volunteers to help out with the following:

Saturday 6 December, from 3.30pm.

Setting up Ridgmont

Laying out the Hall, Tables and Chairs

As the hall is a bit short of suitable tables I have arranged to borrow some from the Chiltern Model Railway Association. I have booked 10 tables and they measure 6’ x 2’ and are 2” thick when closed, unfortunately I find I can only get 6 in my car. From a cost point of view it would make sense if they would all fit into one car. So here is the crunch, does anybody have a suitable vehicle that will take all 10 and would be willing to collect them for us.

Sunday 7 December, from 8.00am.

Finishing touches to Ridgmont

Help with the unloading and setting up of Prayle Grove and St Gennys.

Help for traders with unloading and setting up.

Preparation of Catering.

Once the show opens at 10.00am, we will need help with the following.

Ticket selling on the door.

Selling of Raffle Tickets.

Catering

Stewards, all BAGs members will be given Stewards badges to wear for the duration of the show.

The show will close at 4.30pm; we will need as much help as possible to clear the hall for the next users.

Traders;

The following traders have confirmed their attendance.

Atropos

Brandbright

Busy Bodies

Imp Models

Jons People

Jim’s Models

Trenarren Models

The Signal Box

AnDel Models - New addition since last month.

With the addition of AnDel Models this will give us our best mix of traders yet, so don’t forget your wallets.

Members Running;

There are no changes as far as layouts are concerned.

Ridgmont, presented by BAGs

Prayle Grove, presented by Graham and Carol

St Gennys, presented by Andrew and Joy Neal

So there will be plenty of running opportunities for both BAGs and visiting Association members. Please note that due to the poor ventilation in the Halls, and expected higher level of visitors which will also include members of the public, we have come to the conclusion that the running of coal fired locos will be limited to the final hour of the show. Because of this restriction, priority will be given to coal fired locos on the Running Roster for the last hour. There will be a restriction on Meths firing throughout the entire exhibition.

Car Parking;

We have again secured the use of the Bowls Club carpark for Traders and BAG members, leaving the Hall parking free for visitors.

Catering;

As you know we have decided to open the Show to the public as well as Association Members. With this in mind we plan to offer a more comprehensive range of food rather than just the Tea, Coffee and Biscuits as last year. We will retain the complementary drinks and biscuits but will make a modest charge for other items. The selection has not yet been finalised. We are fortunate to have two willing volunteers to run the catering for us, Maggie Evans (Geoff's wife) and my wife Margaret. I know that they will be grateful for any offers of help with the catering.

Exhibitions

The 16mm Association has invited the G-Scale Society to bring one of their layouts to the 16mm AGM next year. In return the 16mm Association have been asked to present a layout at the G-Scale AGM next year. The Association wants to send a first class example of an Exhibition standard layout so naturally they asked us to take Ridgmont. I have already emailed a number of our Group to gauge the level of support and the responses I have had so far have been positive. I still need to make up a full running team so if you are interested please let me know at the club on Sunday.

The details of the G-Scale AGM are as follows:

Date - 25th April 2009

Venue - Harvey Haddon Sports Complex, Nottingham, 3 miles from Junction 26, M1

In round numbers it’s about 90 miles from the club, but to put that in perspective Brandon is about 85 miles, Stoneleigh is about 70.

E-mail Addresses

As a club we maintain a list of our members email address, we do this to enable the committee to make contact members immediately rather than wait until the next Smokebox. A case in point happen just recently when I wanted to keep members informed of Larry Cheeseman’s progress after his heart attack. Judging by comments from member who failed to receive these and other emails, the current list is way out of date.

There will be a copy of the current list of member's emails at the club on Sunday, would you please check your own entry and correct it if it proves to be out of date.
