October 2008
In the September Smokebox I raised the issue of the Annual Subscription rate,
it had been held at £15 since our move to our current home in Leighton Buzzard.
The rate of £15 was set so that Subs. would cover the cost of hiring the hall.
It now transpired that the cost of hiring the hall was increase in March 2007,
means that for the last 18 months the Subs have not covered the hire costs.
It was unanimously agreed by the 24 members present at the September meeting that
the Subscription would be increased to £20, with immediate effect.

Traders
For those of you that missed the September Smokebox I have been advised by Alan & Janet of Lineside Delights that they won’t be able to attend this year due to ill health. The space made vacant by Lineside Delights has given us an opportunity to introduce a broader mix of traders.
In addition to our regular supporters:
Atropos
Brandbright
Busy Bodies
Imp Models
Jons People
We have introduced the following:
Jim’s Model, by Jim Leggett, see SMT 125, page 41 for a review of some of his kits.
Trenarren Models, Chris Russell the Perfect World range of track side accessories.
The Signal Box, Judith and Martin Smith, Narrow Gauge DVDs.
Members Running
I am please to confirm that apart from our own layout Ridgmont we will also have in attendance:
Graham and Carol with Prayle Grove
Andrew and Joy Neal with their latest offering of St Gennys.
So there will be plenty of running opportunities for both BAGs and visiting Association members.
Please note, that due to the poor ventilation in the Halls and expected higher level of visitors which will also include members of the public we have come to the conclusion that the running of coal fired locos will be limited to the final hour of the show. Because of this restriction priority will be given to coal fired locos on the Running Roster for the last hour. There will be a restriction on Meths firing throughout the entire exhibition.
Car Parking
We have again secured the use of the Bowls Club car park for Traders and BAGs members, leaving the Hall parking free for visitors.
Members Running Days
The weather was kind for Martin Shrubsole’s steam running day on his Somesay Island Railway, plenty of opportunities for what proved to be a challenging run even with radio control. After the preparation and planning that goes into having an open day it was a pity that there was not more support from BAGs members. Thanks Martin for a great days steaming.
12th October
Open day at Alan Regan's 45mm gauge line at Olney, Alan tells me he has plenty of rolling stock so as long as you can re-gauge your Loco you’re OK, or you are welcome to just come along and watch.
