Club Christmas Meeting

Welcome to the clubs first Christmas at Eaton Bray, as promised we have laid on some goodies to keep you going during the day. As I write this there is thick snow outside with more promised, I am hoping that it clears enough for Sunday so it doesn´t keep too many of you away.

Thank you all for supporting the Club during this year, particularly during our move to the clubs new home at Eaton Bray. We wish you all a very happy Christmas and all the best for 2010.

Kew Show 14/15 November

The club had yet another enjoyable two days playing trains at the Kew Steam Show, thanks to everyone who came along to help with the loading and unloading at Eaton Bray and running at the exhibition. The weather on Saturday was particularly unpleasant; the wind was so strong we thought the marquee was going to take off, the persistent rain kept attendance quite low. Fortunately the weather improved for the Sunday which made up for it with a much larger attendance. On the whole a very enjoyable day for all those who could make it.

Subscription Time

There are still a number of members who have not yet paid their Subs for 2009/2010; if you want to continue as a member and enjoy the meetings at Eaton Bray I suggest you see Tony at the club on Sunday. Our subs. are £25 this year we do however expect to hold them at that level for the following year 2010/2011.

We will be taking Ridgmont to the following shows in 2010

Allan Pettitt´s Railway Project

Allan was made an honorary member of the club shortly after his move to Suffolk in 2007, he helped with many of the improvements to Ridgmont while he was a regular at our monthly meeting. Since his move to Suffolk he has been working on a new Railway Project. He recently sent me a selection of photographs showing his progress so far, rather than include them with Smokebox I have made up a display board with Allan´s notes about each picture. Do have a look during the day they will also be featured on our Web Site.

Many of you will remember Dan Keen from the West Herts Group who died in November, Pete has kindly provided a copy of his obituary which was published in the Oily Rag, I have printed a number of copies which I will leave next to Smokebox.
