Garden Meeting

Both the garden meetings held during May were hosted by Martin & Liz Shrubsole on the Somesay Island Railway at their home at Wing Buckinghamshire. The first was held on the 1st, 2nd & 3rd May which was a Trains for Marie Curie weekend which was very well attended, the money raised by these events now stands at well over £26,000 due entirely to the effort of Liz and Martin and their willing band of helpers. The next date for this event is at the end of August, see the entry below.

The second meeting on the 9th May also took place on the Somesay Island Railway, this was exclusively a steam running event, from a Beds Group point of view the attendance was poor only one member turned up for what proved to be a very enjoyable afternoon, fortunately attendance from friends and other 16mm groups swelled the numbers. Thanks to Liz for providing much welcome refreshments during the afternoons events. I am not sure if Martin will be hosting a second Steam day but if he is can we please have a better turnout from BAGs members next time

So far we have the following events in the diary for this year, they are as follows:

Friday 25th June
Cut-Throat Wood Railway, Pete Newman is planning an evening running session on Friday 25th June, starting at 6pm, running until late. Full details can be found on the diary page on the BAGS Web Site or contact Pete direct on 01494:673523.

Saturday 17 July
Nick Burton will be holding an open day at his home at Chesham, Nick will be providing further details very soon.

28th, 29th & 30th August
Martin & Liz Shrubsole will be holding the 25th Trains for Marie Curie weekend, if you have not taken part in one of these weekends now is your chance. It is a very enjoyable day and all for a very good cause, to date Martin and Liz have raised over £26,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. You can find full details about this and future dates at www.somesayislandrailway.org or contact Martin direct on 01296:688913.

*News Flash*

We have been asked to present Papplewick Green at the Edlesborough Carnival on 3rd July.

It will be held on the village green in Edlesborough

Set up Time 12 noon, Close 4pm.

The layout is quite small so we won´t need a large team, as it is only 4 hours I hope we can rely on local members to help out.

As the show is in the open we need some form of protection if the weather is not on our side.

If any members have a Gazebo we could use on the day, to be on the safe side I´m guessing we need 2 or 3 to give the layout and operators protection.

Please let me know if you are willing to help with the layout or can loan a Gazebo.

I know this is short notice, the Carnival is on the Saturday before our next club meeting but please help if you can.
