Steam on Somesay Island

"Somesay island Railway has been in operation for 25 years, primarily for battery power. With recent modifications it also provides scope for steam operations over an uninterrupted out and back route of approximately 500ft. The route includes two spirals (one up, one down), tunnels, and several different areas where locos can be switched off the main line for re-fuelling and "drawing breath". For more details go to www.somesayislandrailway.org.uk then go to the "Rules for Steam Operations" link in "Operations", or e-mail to welaws@aol.com, or phone 01296-688913.

Refreshments will be provided at 5pm so we would appreciate some prior advice if you are coming.

Somesay Island Railway supports Marie Curie Cancer Care, and any donations will be gratefully received"
